Bruce Macfarlane

Bio

Bruce was an active business angel investor while working as a banker in the City and saw the opportunity to combine interested, value-added capital with thorough, supporting due diligence to create a new model of angel investment. MMC resulted and this philosophy has guided the firm as it has grown into the leading venture capital investor it is today. Bruce began his career as a US securities lawyer at Skadden Arps in New York. He transferred to investment banking with Merrill Lynch, where he was a managing director and head of UK investment banking, and Bankers Trust, where he was a senior managing director. He qualified as a barrister in London (Gray’s Inn) and an attorney in New York. He is a Chartered Director and has a BA in English from Leeds University. He is active in promoting the venture capital industry, sitting on the Venture Committee of the BVCA.
