It has developed software that can easily detect, locate and characterize breast cancer on medical images using artificial intelligence. Their product, MammoScreen, is currently used as a reading aid by radiologists for tens of thousands of patients per month. Therapixel’s core technical asset is an algorithm trained on a dataset of over a million mammograms (x-ray pictures of breasts) labeled by trained radiologists. MammoScreen helps speed up the reading process by highlighting those cases that merit a closer look. It also reduces the frequency with which cancer cases are missed, which is very relevant for reducing the cost from malpractice litigation which is customary in the US. The software has received CE marking and FDA approval.
