In September 1997, Michael G. Bolton became the Founding CEO and Managing Director of the Novitas Capital, one of the venture funds initially sponsored by Safeguard Scientifics (NYSE:SFE). Mr. Bolton also has worked closely with Safeguard in various business development activities associated with Safeguard's partner companies and affiliated venture funds. Prior to joining the Novitas Capital Funds, Mr. Bolton held various technical and sales responsibilities at RCA and was a senior executive at Lehigh University. While at Lehigh, he held various leadership positions related to fund raising, technology transfer, entrepreneurial assistance and public and government relations. While at Lehigh, Mr. Bolton's group raised over $500 million for the university, and formed innumerable strong relationships with major corporations and business leaders. As the founding chief executive of the Ben Franklin Technology Center at Lehigh, and co-founder and a member General Partner of the NEPA Venture Funds, he has been an active participant in the venture capital community for approximately 20 years. Mr. Bolton currently serves on the boards of several Novitas portfolio companies and has served on the Advisory Board for the Wharton School's Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Bolton has both a BA and an MBA from Lehigh University.Career
