Bio

Mr. Roelof F. Botha is a General Partner and Venture Capitalist at Sequoia Capital. He focuses on seed, early, and growth stage investments and on sectors such as financial, healthcare, Internet, mobile, technology, with emphasis on services and software investments. Mr. Botha is based in the Menlo Park office of the firm. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2003, he served as the Chief Financial Officer at PayPal (EBAY). Earlier, Mr. Botha worked as a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company from August 1996 to July 1998. He is a Director of Luxim, Xoom, meebo Inc. since December 19, 2005, Challenge, eHarmony, Eventbrite, Gene Security, Jawbone, Mahalo, Thread, TokBox, Unity Technologies ApS, YouTube, and Insider Pages, Inc. Mr. Botha is a Certified Actuary and became a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries in 1996. MBA from Stanford Business School (2000). BS in Actuarial Science, Economics, and Statistics from the University of Cape Town (1994).
