Steve King formed Prairie Capital with Bryan Daniels in 1997, and shares overall management responsibility for Prairie. Steve is responsible for deal generation and overseeing due diligence, deal structuring, and negotiation, along with fundraising and investor relations.
Steve also has portfolio management responsibilities, and currently participates on the board of six of Prairie Capital's portfolio companies, including FCA Packaging Products, Insource Contract Services, Pioneer Metal Finishing, Regency Beauty Institute, R3 Education and Specialized Education Services, Inc. Prior to founding Prairie Capital, Steve led the formation of ANB Mezzanine Corporation (then a subsidiary of First Chicago Corporation), serving as its President from 1994 to 1997. Previously, he was Vice President and Division Head at American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago.
Steve is also active in various civic and community organizations with a particular interest in education and family initiatives. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Arc of Hope and Boys Hope/Girls Hope of Illinois. He is also on the Advisory Board of the Illinois Education Foundation and is the past Board Chair of an Evanston-based K-8 school and of The Eleanor Foundation. Steve graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Finance. He received his MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Chicago and his JD from Loyola University. Steve is a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow and past chairman of the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies.
